Development of our "Bridgefield Subdivision" began in the early 1970's, starting with the Northern half. Beginning at the bridge, four houses on the North side of Sandi Drive were built and served as the model homes for four different floor plans.
Later, the land for the second half of the subdivision was sold and developed by a different company. They used different exteriors, floor plans, and types of contruction, so our neighborhood is not filled with "cookie cutter" homes that all look exactly the same. This second development was called "Whispering Pines", but later merged with the Northern area and now both are known as "Bridgefield".
BHA was incorporated on August 15, 1975, as "a voluntary civic association organized for the purpose of furthering social welfare and the promotion of proper land use and other matters relative to the welfare of the members and residents".
In the mid 1980's, some families took advantage of the City of Indianapolis' "Free Trees" opportunity which was coordinated by Bridgefield Homeowners Association (BHA). As a result, many of the beautiful trees in the areas between the sidewalks and the streets were donated and planted by the City.
In 1991, BHA contracted for street lights at the major intersections of our streets to help ensure safety and easier driving at night.
And even now BHA is continuing to work for the good of our neighborhood through things like new entry signs, new paint for the bridge, and semi-annual clean-ups!
