Bridges Alliance began in 2014, creating a new rental housing choice for low-income Howard County Households. Bridges Alliance draws its model from other housing- focused community building initiatives like Circles USA. Tenants sign renewable 12 month leases and build community through a virtual community that also meets regularly called the "Circle of Support." The Circle of Support builds leadership, social capital, and supports goal achievement.
Tenants and volunteer allies work together to unite around the goal of long-term housing stability, forming teams that focus on building a network of support that leads to a sustainable lifestyle for tenants.
The 100 Homes for 100 Households campaign's goal is to provide affordable Howard County housing to 100 low wage earning families. Families who are working in healthcare, education, nonprofits, manufacturing, retail and other important community jobs and need rent they can afford.
