What is a cooperative preschool?

Bright Beginnings Preschool, (previously known as Bowling Green Cooperative Preschool), was established in 1974. We offer parents and preschoolers a unique opportunity to share in a rewarding educational experience.

Because the school is completely owned and administered by the parents, it provides the community with an alternate to privately owned and operated nursery schools and daycares. Parents' responsibilities include administrative duties, providing nutritious snacks, and assisting the teacher in the classroom from one to two times per month.

The school employs a certified teacher to plan the curriculum, to coordinate educational activities and field trips, and to guide the parents in their role as teacher aides.

Where is the school located?

The school is located at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 315 South College Drive in Bowling Green, Ohio. Classes meet from 9:30AM to 12:00PM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

How will my child benefit?

Our cooperative preschool is designed to promote social and emotional growth, physical coordination, and cognitive development through creative explorations in art, literature, music, and role-playing. The children have the opportunity to attend class field trips and hear informative guest speakers.

The cooperative experience also gives the child the benefit of parental involvement, guidance, and support. Children gradually move toward independence because the parent is sharing the experience. With its five-to-one child-to-adult ratio, each child receives individual attention.

Our facility provides ample classroom space as well as a bathroom with child-sized fixtures.
