Thank you for realizing that no government is foolproof.  I know the councilmembers were active, as well as, the Mayor and lots of neightbors pitching in to make a bad situation to become better. Many ran generators and shared power with neighbors, asking nothing in return. Except for a very small few, who don't seem to be home, the city looks great. And you are right,  to many look toward government to be the answer  for every problem. Our own apathy will be the downfall to personal responsibility.  Now I see you often suggest some issue that seem to bug you, as in one of the  latest posts regarding some conflicts of interest and so on.  What's this about and get the meat of the matter. I detest suggestions that fall far short of the point. So state you problem or knock in off.

Wow,you certainly have a lot of issues if you dislike living here so bad why have you stayed?and I mean no disrespect by that comment it just sounds like your not happy living here.We have lived here for many years and yes there have been things that ticked me off too!!!but all in all its been a good place to live and raise our son.I am sorry I got off track of the pionts you were trying to make, but in a crisis, your right sometimes we have to rely on our own wits ,there may not be someone in charge around they might be hurt or need help. After all they are our neighbors too, not just cousel members.Well thats all !!

I agree that the powers-that-be in Woodlawn Park should have done more to communicate to residents during the power outage. The Church apparently put flyers on everyone's house advising of the dinners they were having and offering electricity. If the Church can do that all over WP, even for people who don't belong to the Church, then I think that WP itself can do that for its residents. Just a simple xeroxed note saying that the WP house was open, something about limb removal, with the phone numbers of council members or block watch captains listed, would be nice, especially for residents who didn't have access to the website. I understand that for disasters we go by Louisville Metro rules, and I certainly wouldn't expect Mayor Abramson to go around to each house in Louisville, but with the relatively small amount of houses in WP, I truly don't think it is too much to ask. Otherwise, why not just join Louisville Metro and do away with WP "government"????

I will say, though, that when I called a WP council person, he was nice, he offered me a chance to come over and plug in my cell phone, etc. but that was when I was at work, with electricity, and able to look up council members' phone numbers on a computer.
