Looking back through the various threads on this site, it seemed to me that the number of people who post on the WP web site is relatively small. So I've been asking neighbors about the site and found out that of the 14 asked, 12 reported that they have never posted on the site, but read it regularly. Most reported that they do not offer comments because of the "sniping" that goes on, and most also reported that it's just intimidating to speak up in such a public forum. 

I find it very interesting that the audience for this site may very well be much larger than I once thought.  I for one, think it may have an impact on how I say what I want to say... realizing folks will read it that will never comment on it. It also has me thinking that any message I may want to get out is reaching more people than I once thought. That is very encouraging. Anyway, I'm trying to process what to think of all that. Anybody have a thought(s) they'd like to share?

You might find it interesting by reading the monthly city council minutes about the website hits. The useage is reported by the city clerk. Last month something like 620 viewers logged in and I think this last May was some 1600 views.  So you are right, lots of people logging in or on the other hand, a very few viewing many times a week. 

I forgot all about the clerks report in the council minutes. Thanks Woodman! And you're right, that certainly does seem to show that many are reading, or the same few are reading regularly. That 12 of my neighbors report reading the site "regularly", though I have never seen them post on here, makes me want to believe there are many more readers than I originally thought.  

If you look at the "Election" discussion in this forum, I think you will see what people mean by the amount of "sniping" on this website. That is really one of the main reasons I only check in with the website about once a month, at the most. Truly, reading the forums is kind of depressing because of the sniping.
