Building Bridges United Outreach is a nonprofit organization that educates and aids in neighborhood revitalization, for improving quality of life issues. The programs will work along side with the community, local sheriff’s office and other non profit organizations. Building Bridges United Outreach’s goal is to revitalize distressed neighborhoods and get a commitment from the residents that with our help they will learn to start a neighborhood crime watch and aid in community cleanup. Only through personal relationships can a sense of individual responsibility be established that will give the residents commitment to follow through on the path to a safe and clean environment with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Through repeated failures in the economy, neighbors not taking the time to care and the destructive habits of communities, at-risk citizens have lost faith in the possibilities that await them. When they are successful they are able to achieve a better quality of life. To accomplish this goal, residents must be given the knowledge, education and resources that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal and community respect.
Building Bridges United Outreach is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of neighborhoods that are either falling through the cracks and/or are already entangled with the crime, drugs, theft, gangs and vandalism in their community. The goal of the program is to help reduce and/or eliminate the quality of life issues plaguing society today by reaching out to those who are in need and offer a positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level, but the goal remains the same; Empowering the community & residents to make positive changes in their lives.
Building Bridges United Outreach will focus primarily on deteriorating communities. Our starting point is using the "SARA MODEL" (Scanning, Analysis, Response and Analysis). This enables the organization to go into communities that have quality of life issues and to aid and educate residents. We will determine which of the program(s) is best suited to benefit each community. Our "Crime Watch Program" will help citizens to recognize and begin a neighborhood watch program within their community. We will help them with organization of meetings, community walks, events, education through speakers and aid in cleaning up the neighborhood (ex: graffiti, abandoned homes, trash pick up, etc.) We will work with local law enforcement if drug activities, theft, gangs and bullying are detected. In these type of communities that have quality of life issues, children & teenagers are sometimes left unattended and with lack of supervision or direction often seek the streets for "recreation" (ex: loitering on the street corners) and have the potential for criminal activity. As part of our goals we plan to help organize the, "Getting Kids Off The Streets Program", through community events consisting of arts, sports, leadership skills, character building, health & life skills so they may learn to lead productive lives. We wish to recognize low income families and help locate the resources needed to thrive through basic needs, hence the "Strive to Thrive Program". All of our programs are designed to help reduce and/or eliminate the quality of life issues plaguing society today by reaching out to those who are in need. Once the community has begun to be self sustaining, we will go back to the final step of the SARA MODEL, which is Analysis. Our final analysis will determine whether we have been successful in completing the tasks put before our organization.
Over time, Building Bridges United Outreach will create a crime free and self sustaining community, that will be an invaluable asset and resource to other citizens and other neighborhoods, aspiring mentors and the community at large.
