         If you are experiencing some of the difficulties described on this site, feel free to contact us with your concerns. Many of us have had to fight a BULI in Small Claims Court and we know what you may be going through. Perhaps you could benefit from some of our experiences.

         If you choose to contact us by phone, you must leave a number where someone can call you directly. You will also have to be sure the privacy feature on your phone service is turned off. The same is true for ''Anonymous Call Rejection''. (For AT&T, *87 turns it off and *77 turns it back on.)

         The reason is that, in order to minimize the likelihood of retaliation by BULIs, we do not give out the names or phone numbers of the people that participate with us. So if we cannot get through to you, you will not be able to hear from us.

         If there is no hurry, you can contact us by email. Just keep in mind that it will probably take longer than by phone. You could also start a discussion on this site.

What is C.A.P.I.T.A.L.?

Cohabitants Against Predatory Impositions on Tenants by Abusive Landlords
(a CAPITAL idea for which time has come)
? ? ? ? ?  We are not tenants' advocates, pro-tenant, nor anti-landlord.?  Neither are we a tenants' rights organization.?  In fact, we are not even an organization at all, just a group of people who have been victimized enough to want to try and put a stop to it.?  We don't believe that landlords should get shafted simply because they are property owners.

? ? ? ? ?  This is about justice and fair play for all.?  We are for the rights of human beings, regardless of which side of the coin they happen to be on.?  Just as there are good and bad tenants, the same also applies to landlords.?  We do not wish to advocate for abuse of others just because the abusers are tenants.?  There is no excuse for that.?  That being said, stopping bad tenants is not our purpose, either.

? ? ? ? ?  It's the Bad Unscrupulous Landlord Imposter (BULI) who has the huge advantage and can roll over tenants almost at will.?  Way too little is being done to stop them, bring them to justice, or even to identify them and acknowledge the problem.

? ? ? ? ?  This is NOT about ''tenants' rights''.?  And it's NOT about landlord/tenant disputes.?  The subject in question here is stopping crooks who assume the guise of landlords in order to use apartment buildings to victimize anyone who rents from them.

? ? ? ? ?  Examples are: extorting fees and excess rents, unwarranted evictions, illegal raises, reductions of services, repairs intentionally neglected, invasions of privacy, deposits embezzled, laws broken for profits, and even real estate fraud.?  It's a wide open opportunity for any kind of violations they can do to steal money from the very people who can least afford it.?  Then they drive them out to make way for new victims, and do the same thing all over again.

? ? ? ? ?  We are NOT talking about some minor misunderstanding between a landlord and a tenant.?  These are premeditated criminal actions taking place against apartment dwellers at large.?  There are only a handful of owners doing this, but they control a large number of buildings.?  They are getting richer and are expanding their holdings at our expense.?  They are also increasing in number.?  They have to be stopped!

Mission Statement

? ? ? ? ?  Our objectives are multiple:

? ? ? 1) First to draw attention to the problem and make people aware of the fact that there is one.

? ? ? 2) To help provide support and encouragement for those who are being put through it by BULIs.?  Sharing experiences not only lets them know that they are not alone, but can provide them with non-legal assistance while they try to survive it.

? ? ? 3) To provide facts, research and information, hoping to help lay down the groundwork for prosecution of some of the BULIs.?  Significant penalties coupled with restitution would go a long way towards slowing them down.

? ? ? 4) Probably the most important part of our goals is prevention.?  Some of us are working on solutions to avoid the problem in the future.?  An extensive proposal is being devised to equalize the power and to exercise enough control to make it so that this problem cannot continue to happen once it has been stopped.

Methods and Conclusion

? ? ? ? ?  We are attempting to work with tenants' rights organizations, government agencies, community groups and concerned individuals ?– basically anyone who wants to help put an end to the rampant rampages of greedy BULIs.?  Eventually it will happen, but it has to start somewhere sooner or later.



?  ?  ?  ? We think sooner is better and should be now, because it's already too late to stop it before it spreads and gets out of hand since it already has.?  The point here is to retake control from the BULIs before they completely take over our neighborhoods.?  They make plenty from property appreciation and rent inflation.?  They have been getting rich from breaking laws and stealing renters' hard earned money for long enough!



? ? ? ? ?  It's high time for a change in that pattern.
