Camelot Estates Townhouses Neighborhood Association

September Newsletter

Sep 29, 2004

?· We discussed proposed bylaws at the last meeting and a number of changes were voted upon. The revised bylaws will be voted upon for adoption this month. One of the major changes was that there will be no difference between renters or owners. All members regardless of whether they rent or own their property will be free to vote on all issues.
?· We will be discussing future projects and voting on dues. Some of the projects suggested have been to put our name ?“Camelot Estates Townhouses?” on entrances off of Pennsylvania. We may be able to apply for a landscaping grant for those areas too.
?· Election of Block Leaders has been suggested to welcome new residents and maintain contact with each block on neighborhood issues.
?· Neighborhood events such as barbeques, art and craft sales and garage sales have been suggested.
?· Various neighborhood, alley and parkway maintenance and cleanup projects have been suggested.
?· Alley lighting to help provide greater security.
?· Good Neighbor of the Month awards for landscaping or just helpfulness.
?· Bring your good ideas and your vote to the meeting!

News:
?· Gustavo Eskobar has been doing mowing for 117th Street for the last couple of years. He has agreed to help us with our individual yard maintenance. He indicates that most of our yard work can be done for $15 to $25 depending on how many hedges, bushes, etc. we have. He will be doing most of this work on Mondays. Feel free to call him for a specific price for your yard maintenance at (722-2193 home) (503-7349 cell). He indicated that he is able to handle most types of yard maintenance at a reasonable price. He has been very reliable in the past.
?· Attorney Mark Bonney has agreed to represent our Association with legal remedies for parking disputes with residents who consistently block thru access to their neighbors by parking on the outside lane of the interior parkways.
?· The ?“Lights On?” project is making great headway particularly on the 118th Street/118th Terrace garage access area. Residents all along 118th are leaving on their porch lights all night and many are turning on the alley lights or installing motion flood lights. Remember?…lighting is the greatest deterrent to vandalism and crime! Leave those lights ON!

NEW NEIGHBORS THIS MONTH:

?· Rise Russell bought the home at 2106 118th Street. He has already put in lovely new landscaping.

?· The corner house at 2138 NW 118th Street is undergoing a makeover by the future owner who intends to use it as a rental property. The house has been reroofed, will soon be repainted, and has new landscaping.

?· Mary Ann Green bought the townhouse at 2132 NW 118th Terrace.

?· Lynyetta Blackshear rented Calvin Austin?’s house for a year at 2120 NW 118th Terrace.

?· Let?’s all get to know our new neighbors and welcome them to the neighborhood!

?· Tanya Lipp - 2116 NW 118th Street has done some new landscaping. That window box is gorgeous!

?· We want to get to know our neighbors better and be available to help out particularly this winter. Try to meet at least one new neighbor this month and let them know that if their car isn?’t running, if they are ill, if they have specific problems in bad weather, you are available for small things they may need.

?· I know we must have missed people who regularly help out in the neighborhood. Please let us know about your "good neighbors." We want to recognize them for their helpfulness. Let us know so that we can thank them for all of us who benefit from their neighborliness.

REMEMBER, THIS IS YOUR ASSOCIATION AND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD! Let's all work and vote to resolve our common issues. Your vote decides where your dues are spent. Your participation is critical to our success!

We have seen many improvements made in our neighborhood already. All of our streets have shown marked improvements. It just goes to show what a little good will and neighborliness can do!
