OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To ensure that Chaumiere is a safe community with well-maintained homes where people are proud to live.

THE HISTORY OF CHAUMIERE

President John Quincy Adams first deeded this piece of land that is now Chaumiere to Elizabeth Arnold in 1826.

It was purchased by Benjamin Ricketts in 1834, who bequested it to his family upon his death in 1881.

William R. Summers purchased the land in 1882, and he named his farm "Chaumiere" after an estate in Jassamine County, Kentucky. Eventually the land was owned by various members of the Squire family (hence the name "Squire Heights") and was gradually divided into our neighborhood.

MONTHLY NEWSLETTER PUBLISHED

A monthly four page newsletter is produced and delivered to all Chaumiere Residents by volunteer neighborhood people. We try to put it "in your door" approximately one week prior to the monthly meeting. This newsletter contains articles of general interest about neighborhood and city activities & opportunities to volunteer in your neighborhood. Pictures of award winning homes and other things of interest also appear in the newsletter.

About our association

What we are

Chaumiere Neighborhood Association is a 501c3 not for profit incorporated group. We have a board of directors and meet regulary as a board and as an organization. We collect no dues and our income stems from grant money, donations, and fund-raisers.

Purpose and Activities

We act as a conduit to provide the neighborhood with information about local developments, resources for home improvement, crime prevention, lobbying city government, and to generally educate and entertain our citizens through our newsletter and monthly meetings. Our goal is to ensure that the Chaumiere Neighborhood is a safe community with well-maintained homes where people are proud to live.

What we are not

We do not take sides in neighbors disputes or air personal issues at meetings. We are not lawyers, police or government.
