Freedom Is a Long Way Off

Currently, we find that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people are forced to live as second-class citizens throughout most of the U.S. Only 12 of the 50 states have non-discrimination statutes, and the executive order (on federal hiring) that was signed into law by former President Clinton could be reversed in the current political climate. We find ourselves being legally discriminated against in employment, civil unions (or the lack thereof), housing, custody battles, and a host of other arenas. ''Gay bashing'' remains a severe problem, as do judicial bias and negative media portrayal. We have, in short, a LONG way to go to catch up with Europe and Canada in the area of GLBT rights.

The Washington Blade has determined that Oklahoma is by far the most homophobic of all the states in the Union. This state already has some major problems: substance
abuse, teenage pregnancy, illiteracy, bankruptcy, corruption, animal abuse, and a great many other problems too numerous to mention. In many of these areas, Oklahoma has the dubious distinction of being a ''Top 5'' state. Do we really need to add another dubious distinction (i.e., homophobia) to this list of shame?

The organization is strictly non-profit, and every dollar you donate goes to furthering the cause of liberty and justice for all. Some of that money will go to public education (e.g., billboards, tracts, mailings, etc.), while some of it will go to candidates who are supportive of civil rights causes. ALL of the money goes to fighting bigotry and persecution, no matter where it may hide.
