Construction to Begin on Gene Snyder Freeway October 10th
New concrete to be installed on bridge over KY 22
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (October 5, 2012) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) recently awarded a contract for bridge deck rehabilitation on Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) in Jefferson County. Work is scheduled to begin on October 10th to perform deck repairs and apply a concrete overlay to the bridge over KY 22 (mile point 34.0).
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction during the majority of the construction work. Lanes will be shifted and the roadway shoulders utilized for driving lanes. Some lane closures will be necessary during the set-up phase of these traffic shifts. Lane closures will not be allowed on weekdays 7-9 AM and 3-6 PM.
The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 MPH and double fines will be enforced.
Approximately 70,000 vehicles travel this section of I-265 each day. Motorists are urged to slow down in the work zone and pay attention to all traffic control signs.
Hall Contracting of Louisville, KY was awarded the construction contract in the amount of $598,496. Work is scheduled for completion by November 15, 2012.
