Organization: CITY YEAR, an AmeriCorps national service organization in 13 sites throughout the nation.

Position Title: Corps Member

City Year is currently accepting applications for the position of CORPS
MEMBER to serve urban communities with commitment and
idealism from late August 2000 until June 2001.

City Year, a proud member of the AmeriCorps national network, is a national service program that unites 17-24
year olds for a challenging year of full-time service, leadership development and civic engagement.

Position Responsibilities
?· Perform human and physical service for ten months with a full-time team of peers. Schedules are determined
by site.
l Help design and implement innovative service projects, programs, and events including: mentoring children in urban elementary schools, running after-school programs, implementing curricula, running vacation camps, directing young heroes programs for middle school children, and meeting other community needs.
?· Participate in a comprehensive leadership development program.
?· Serve as a role model to peers, children, other citizen, and as a community advocate.

Position Requirements
City Year corps members are distinguished by a positive can-do attitude, a commitment to improving
communities through service, and commitment to personal growth and leadership development. Additional requirements include:
?· Being between the ages of 17 and 24
?· Being a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien
?· Possessing a high school or college diploma or GED certificate OR be willing to work towards a GED while participating in City Year
?· The ability to provide written documentation of the above

Position Benefits
