Clearing is a southwest side neighborhood with picket fenced homes and quiet streets in an urban setting. The name comes from the yards where produce was 'cleared' (or delivered) through the airport and railways in the early 1900's. Safe streets are the norm here mostly because of the Clearing Night Force, a citizens group that patrols the streets at night. Condos are being built here, but most housing is single-family bungalows and cottages.
