Manners Maketh Man

This 2 week class is designed to reinforce basic manners and etiquette in FUN, interactive situations. "Please & Thank you", table manners, general courtesy are practiced!

Simple Chemistry

Use the scientific method to explore chemistry. Chemistry touches almost everything and influences the way people live. Come find out about chemicals and how they interact.

Card Games
Six Classes K-Grade 3

6 weeks of age appropriate card games such as Go Fish, Concentration, Crazy Eights, War, Satisfaction and Scat. This class is great for improving math skills and hand/eye coordination-not to mention lots of FUN.

ADHD Group
Six Classes Begins week of Feb 25 Ages 6-10

Activity-based group for ages 6-10 with ADHD. Therapeutic games provide a fun way for your child to improve social skills. Through non-competitive and cooperative play, the children work on issues such as impulse control, body awareness, reading social cues, and attentiveness. The games are designed to build self-confidence and to provide a supportive environment.

Social Skills Building Group
Six Classes Begins week of Feb 25 Ages 6-11

Group offered to elementary school aged children to improve social skills. Activities allow the children to practice social interactions in a safe environment. Practical skills addressed include how to build friendships, how to compromise, and how to communicate.

Strategies/Study Skills
Six Classes Grades 4&5
6:00 - 7:00pm Wednesdays $35

This course will focus on the many strategies that can be used by students in their classrooms. Active learning (pre-reading, pre-writing, cooperative learning groups) will be encouraged and pre-planning and organizational strategies will be taught. The instructor will provide as much practice and review as possible so that students can apply the strategies they learn to a variety of subjects (science, social studies, etc.). The objective of the course is to help students to experience mastery and success so they understand the benefits of using specific strategies.

Reading Smart
Six Classes Grades 4-6
6:00 - 7:00pm Tuesdays $35

Reading doesn't have to be a chore. Once you learn a few strategies, it can even be fun. This course was created to help children who have a hard time keeping up with assignments, understanding novels, or just reading efficiently. Through the use of interesting and fun readings we will increase your reading speed and comprehension with techniques like pre-reading, pen-marking, mapping, clustering, and more. The objective of the class is to help the reader get the most out of everything read.

Come join us as we set out to search for some truly good books. During our time together we will read and discuss some literature that has been out for decades and some literature that is new to the scene. The ways that we work with these books will be numerous and varied. It may be through the use of puppets, drawings, poems, and other art forms.

Designing Web Pages

Learn how to construct Web Pages using Microsoft Front Page. Students will be shown how to create simple pages with graphics, sounds, internet links, and tables. Will be shown where to find graphics, sounds, and other icons to make pages more appealing.

Intro To Baton Twirling

Come and get a little exercise and have FUN with other people. Learn the basics of twirling a baton.

Intro To Improv Comedy

Fun, informative, and useful. The Co-Founders of The Speed of Thought Players provide theatrical training in elements of improv comedy with improvised scene work, games, and exercises.
