Speed Bump Discussion

Speed Bumps

If you walk or bike through the neighborhood enough you will run into (pardon the pun) folks who drive much to fast. I definitely don't think this is just kids. I'm not totally opposed to speed bumps that are not so huge that you have to come to a full stop to cross them. Another neighbor referenced speed ''humps''. I think these would deter drivers from going 45 or more MPH through the neighborhood. I defintely am in favor of a solution that doesn't reduce property value. So some enforcement of the egregious speeders would be appreciated as well. I'd hate to see accidents or collisions with bikers/pedestrians be the reason to do something about this.
Speed Bump response

I am not in favor of speed bumps due to often times the bumps are too high even for safety reasons as well as decreases property value. Of course, saftey is more important than property value. My family has lived in this neighborhood for almost 12 years and we have made it fine. As young adults and adults, it is our responsibility to follow the speed laws. Everyone should take responsibility and discipline themselves to go the speed limit. Of course, this includes me. As for the teenage drivers, there have been many before now and will be many that come later. All of this goes back to what we teach our children as parents. Let's all work together to make our streets a safer place to drive.
Speed bumps a headache

Going over speed bumps, even slowly, aggravates conditions in my neck and back and can trigger migraines for me. I avoid them at all costs and would either have to drive through yards myself or move from Davies if they are put in.
