Dellcrest is a diverse community. Originally farmland, the neighborhood has both a country and city feel due to mixture of sprawling lots and city-block design. The residents reflect this contrast. We believe our diversity is our strength.
On October 28, 2003, a meeting was held by the City's Neighborhood Sweep Department at the Copernicus Recreation Center in Dellcrest. A Neighborhood Sweep took place from November 3rd to November 14, 2003.
Upon completion of the project, a meeting was held to recap the progress made in the area. At this meeting, Veronica Moreno from the City's Neighborhood Sweep Program asked if the group would like to consider starting up a new Neighborhood Association in Dellcrest. A planning committee was formed to gauge the community's level of interest in an association.
After many meetings and much planning, officers were elected on May 25, 2004. The Dellcrest Area Neighborhood Association (DANA) is a non-profit organization registered with the city as an official neighborhood association. As of 2011, the Dellcrest Forest Community has joined DANA as a part of the Dellcrest Area Neighborhood Association.
Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 6:30pm to 8pm at Herman Hirsch Elementary School, 4826 Seabreeze, San Antonio, Texas, unless otherwise designated.
Membership dues are currently $1 per month. As of August 2015, approximately 60 households in the Dellcrest/Dellcrest Forest communities were DANA members.
