Davis Islands is a Unique Community
The Davis Islands were dredged up from the bottom of Tampa Bay in the 1920s. It was designed to become one of the most livable neighborhoods in Tampa.
D.P. Davis was the developer of the islands. He disappeared on an ocean crossing and did not live to see the progress of his dream in the making.
Civic Association Formed in 1974
The Davis Islands Civic Association was formed to protect our neighborhood from blight and commercial buildings in residential neighborhoods.
Residents met to determine what could be done about an industrial dust problem coming from an island east of Davis Islands. That group included John Guyton, President, Gloria Ruso, Joan Saul, and others. They helped win the battle.
