An Appeal to the Neighborhood
Dear Friend,
While the Association can not endorse political candidates, it can make an analysis as to how they apply to the Neighborhood.
Nationally!
The Republicans, at least some, have spoken and John McCain is the presidential candidate.
The Democratic primary will go on forever and ever. Isn't it grand? Maybe we will all know who is who after the Democratic Convention convenes here Denver, CO. this summer.
State Level!
Vermont's electoral system is based on the Town Meeting, a storied exercise in direct democracy. In the VT. town meeting, local issues and ordinances are hashed out in an open forum, with all townspeople who want to speak given time. This is arguably the closest we come in the US to real democracy.
Who cares about Colorado, Arapahoe County and Del Mar Parkway?
Who cares about us at the neighborhood level? You know the answer and the answer is ONLY YOU. Only you can make a difference with direct input just like Vermont.
In a little while, they will all be gone. Either as a new president, new congress, new everyone and we will just be a memory for another 3 years from 11/2008.
How do we make them listen to us when they are gone.
Only by becoming involved at the neighborhood level can we be heard on the local, state and federal levels. Most ideas come from the ground level, us, and not the top.
You must become a part of the Solution and not be a part of the continuing Problem.
But how you ask. By becoming a member of the Del Mar Parkway Neighborhood Association, you become a part of the Solution.
What you receive is the opportunity to participate in direct democracy. At Association meetings, local issues, ordinances and activities are hashed out in an open forum, with all members who want to speak given time, just as in Vermont. We as members get the opportunity to speak among ourselves and with City Hall on topics that have a direct impact on our lives, our children?’s lives and our community.
Additionally, for those of you who may have teenage children, the Association is working on ways for your children to become better prepared for college and receive financial assistance. Although this is a near future project, only by becoming a member of the Association will you be eligible to participate.
Log on your Association website and learn about ways to save money, Community Programs, Consumer, Environmental & Home Information, Little Know History and much more in the Association?’s Newsletter.
The Association invites YOU to take part in direct democracy at the grass roots level and become a part of the SOLUTION.
The Del Mar Parkway Neighborhood Association needs YOU and YOU need IT!!
