Susan Johnston, the Denniston Park Neighborhood Association President, is running for the Ward 2 City Council seat. The election will be on Tuesday, March 18th, 2003. If a run-off is needed, it will be on Tuesday, April 1, 2003.
Susan is a life-long resident of Oklahoma City, is a graduate of the OKC Public Schools and has lived behind Taft Stadium for 23 years. She and her husband Don have been married for over 25 years and have owned and operated a business in the inner city for over 21 years. Susan has been a community volunteer for 18 years working on inner city neighborhood issues.
As well as being the current President of Denniston Park Neighborhood Association, she is active in the association Park Committee, is also currently a OKC Beautiful board member and is the Vice-Chair of the Advocacy and Awareness Committee, board Secretary of the Jesus House and chairwoman of the OKC Empowerment Zone Business Recruitment and Retention Committee.
Issues Susan would like to address if elected would be to improve the efficiency and effectives of our city government, bring more federal tax dollars back to Oklahoma City and to have the neighborhoods voice represented better through improved communications.
