Transportation is a big concern for north Texas and for our neighborhood. The April 24 meeting will deal with plans for I-35 and how they may impact our neighborhood. According to Claude ?“Buzz?” Elsom, Texas Department of Transportation Denton County Resident Engineer, no immediate changes are planned for the service roads adjacent to our neighborhood. In a recent conversation he stated that TxDOT is completing an assessment of the service road exits between Loop 288 and State School Road to determine how they may be changed to assist in the design of the new Loop 288 connection from the existing Loop 288 near Wal-Mart to I-35. In addition, Mr. Elsom stated that the Fort Worth Dr. (US Highway 377) bridge construction is proceeding according to schedule, and the University Dr. (US. Highway 380) overpass will be replaced. The interchange at Dallas Dr. (US Highway 77) and I-35 is not scheduled for any change at this time. Mr. Elsom assured me that public meetings will be held on design changes that impact our neighborhood. The Denton residents approved funding during the last Capital Improvement Program election to ?“reverse the entrances to I-35?”.
