You are welcome to drop in a suggestion
of what to include in it.
FREE CAROUSEL RIDES
PAID DMHS members, and their children and grandchildren may have free unlimited rides on the Heritage Carousel before the meeting from 4:45 – 5:45 p.m.
The program will be about ‘ good times’ in DM – former amusement parks, ballrooms, baseball, State Fair, bowling, skating, parks, race tracks, pool halls, etc.
Bring a picnic, slide down the Rocket Slide and ride the Heritage Carousel. Light refreshments will be provided.
A contest to design a DMHS logo is planned to be announced July 27.
ABOUT THE DES MOINES HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Des Moines Historical Society of Des Moines, Iowa held its’ organizational meeting Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the Des Moines Birthplace/Fort Des Moines II Memorial Cabin. Article II of the bylaws defines: “The purpose of the DMHS is to promote the preservation and study of the history and heritage of Des Moines, Iowa.”
Officers and Board Members for 2009 and 2010 are:
Pat Meiners, President John Wenck, Vice President Ted Lussem, Treasurer Rick Meiners, Secretary
Natasha Moore, Board Jim Bush, Board Brian Browning, Board Jacob Shoemaker, Board
Quarterly meetings, with program topics relative to the history of Des Moines, are held in the months of January, April, July and October.
