 THE DMHS JOINED THE CITY JUNE 14, 2010 TO COMMEMORATE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF LAYING THE CORNERSTONE AT THE DES MOINES MUNICIPAL BUILDING (CITY HALL)

THANK YOU TO THE CITY OF DES MOINES AND THE OTHERS WHO CONTRIBUTED IN MANY WAYS TO THIS CELEBRATION, INCLUDING:

DISPLAYED ON THE 2ND FLOOR OF CITY HALL.

You are welcome to drop in a suggestion

of what to include in it. 

FREE CAROUSEL RIDES

PAID DMHS members, and their children and grandchildren may have free unlimited rides on the Heritage Carousel before the meeting from 4:45 – 5:45 p.m. 

 

The program will be about ‘ good times’ in DM – former amusement parks, ballrooms, baseball, State Fair, bowling, skating, parks, race tracks, pool halls, etc. 

 

Bring a picnic, slide down the Rocket Slide and ride the Heritage Carousel.  Light refreshments will be provided.

 

A contest to design a DMHS logo is planned to be announced July 27. 

 

 


 

ABOUT THE DES MOINES HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Des Moines Historical Society of Des Moines, Iowa held its’ organizational meeting Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the Des Moines Birthplace/Fort Des Moines II Memorial Cabin.  Article II of the bylaws defines:  “The purpose of the DMHS is to promote the preservation and study of the history and heritage of Des Moines, Iowa.”

 

Officers and Board Members for 2009 and 2010 are:
