CITY OF DRUID HILLS SUMMARY OF ORDINANCES

ORDINANCES 1 - 4

1...Establishes the City of Druid Hills Budget for the fiscal year which runs from July 1 through June 30.

2...Establishes the City of Druid Hills tax rate for Real Property for the fiscal year.

3...Establishes the schedule for the City of Druid Hills monthly meetings (see "About Druid Hills" page)

4...Establishes a Code Of Ethical Conduct applicable to all elected and appointed officials of the City of Druid Hills.

ORDINANCES 5 - 8

5...Regulates parking on City Streets and defines when such parking is and is not allowed. Defines where motor vehicles, boats, campers and other such vehicles may be parked. Defines off-street parking spaces and establishes a minimum size for such a space. Allows the Commissioners to levy a specified monetary fine for continued violation of the ordinance.

6...Specifies that property owners are responsible for the normal maintenance of their real property within the City of Druid Hills. Any pertinent Metro ordinace or ruling shall supercede the City's ordinance and be enforced.

7...Provides for control of animals within the City for the protection of both the public and property. Also seeks to protect animals within the City. Provides penalties for continued violation.

8...Provides for the closing of the Northeast end of Olympic Avenue at its terminus into the Broadway Baptist Church property.

ORDINANCES 9 - 11

9...Identifies the mature trees within the City as a valued public resource and specifies the intent to preserve and maintain a tree canopy on all Druid Hills streets. Specifies that it is unlawful to remove, substancially prune or in any manner destroy these trees without written approval from the City's arborist and Commissioners. Specifies a penalty for violation of this ordinance that may be imposed by the Commissioners.

10...Requires all residents to submit detailed plans and specifications for the construction of any buildings, additions, porches, swimming pools, additional out-buildings or additional paving to the City of Druid Hills Review Committee prior to the start of construction. Approval of the committee is required before Metro Louisville will issue a building permit. Specifies a time limit allocated for the City's review and provides for an appeal process. Lists a monetary penalty that may be assessed by the Commission should a violation occur. NOTE: This ordinance does not supercede any Metro zoning laws or regulations. All current laws and requirements must be met.

11...Gave the Commissioner's approval for the City to join the Kentucky League of Cities and the Kentucky Municiple Risk Management Association. Membership in both was required before the City could participate in the lower cost general liability insurance pools which they offer to cities in Kentucky. Private carriers are no longer offering municiple general liability policies.
