Goals of FOCUS

Friends Of Concord/United South End (FOCUS) - FOCUS goals include: (a) traffic calming measures, such as bumpouts; (b) bike/pedestrian safety, such as crosswalks; (c) student/school safety issues, such as safer crossings; (d) Rollins Park improvements; (e)other greenspace improvements such as tree planting and West Street park; (f) infrastructure improvements, such as McKee square; (g) parking improvements, such as Broadway; (h) small business development; (i) improve affordable housing; and (j) neighborhood pride.

One of the goals of FOCUS is to improve intersection at Conant/Rundlett Schools.

FOCUS would like to invite all interested persons to attend and participate in FOCUS meetings

South End / FOCUS Neighborhood & Village Boundaries

Boundaries of the South End neighborhood and Village would be flexible depending on matters addressed.
Beginning at McKee Square along Clinton Street to Iron Works Road; along Iron works Road to South Street, including South Street to Bow, and all related streets; along Rockingham Street to South Main Street, including all related streets; along South Main Street to West Street, including all related streets; and along West Street to McKee Square.

MISSION STATEMENT


• FOCUS is a neighborhood group of interested citizens and residents of the South End of Concord, New Hampshire

• The mission of FOCUS is to enhance, promote and improve the quality of life for all citizens and residents of the South End and the City of Concord

• FOCUS actively seeks participation and input from all South End and Concord citizens, residents and businesses

• The South End neighborhood is a shared and cohesive living community with great neighborhood pride

• To continue progress and success in the South End, the vision of FOCUS is to address important community issues that are integral to enhancing, promoting and improving the vitality of the community; the livability of the neighborhoods; and the safety and well-being of all our children and schools.




GOALS & ISSUES


• FOCUS strives to work and collaborate with city officials, city representatives, Concord 20/20, businesses, merchants, neighbors and others to achieve a balance of planned and systematic growth in Concord’s South End.


• FOCUS goals include, but are not limited to, addressing the following issues:

- Traffic calming measures;
- Street designs for traffic flow, pedestrian safety,
parking, & visual improvements
- Crosswalks, sidewalks and bike lanes
- Student and School safety
- Conant & Rundlett crosswalks, pick-up & drop-off routes
- Rollins, Martin & West Street Park improvements
- Green-space improvements
- Tree plantings, community gardens & public landscaping
- Infrastructure improvements
- McKee Square improvements
- Small Business development
- Affordable housing
-Neighborhood pride and events

CONCORD needs a volunteer from FOCUS

CAROL HARGROVE of South End & FOCUS has volunteered to be on the City's TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC)
TAC members represent specific regions of the City and advise City Council on public transportation Concord Area Transit) issues.
TAC meets quarterly (January, April, July, October) on the 4th Wednesday of
the month, at 5:30 PM at the Community Action Program office located on 2
Industrial Park Drive.

March 22, 2003 Traffic Calming Workshop

On Sat., March 22, 2003 from 1-4 pm at Rundlett Middle School, a South End/FOCUS Workshop will be held with Concord 20/20 to discuss and implement traffic calming devises along Broadway, Allison, Carter and Pillsbury Streets in time for the City's re-paving projects that are scheduled for this Summer 2003 on those South End Streets.
All intersed sashould attend and participate.
