This organization is a new organization that I founded with the mission in mind, to develop and provide a network of supportive services to assist families that have a loved one accused or convicted of a crime.
I would like to bring to your attention that, there are over 2million people incarcerated in America today. There are various programs and advocacy groups to assist victims in getting through the tragedy that has been inflected upon them. But, what about the family members of those accused or convicted of the crime? Who do they have to lean on, or; should they be ostracized for the choices their loved one made?
This is where the vision's needs becomes clear. FOTA will provide an after school program, hot meals, higher education/computer classes, tutors, entrepreneurship classes for young and old. Mentors through out the community will be called upon to offer their time to children, teenagers, and young adults. FOTA will take young adults on field trips to different places that will encourage them to want to 'Break the Cycle'. We're seeking trainers to assist in starting a Boxing Gym, which will allow participant to redirect negative energies, while learning discipline.
I am sure you are aware of the rise in seniors raising their grand and sometimes their great-grandchildren; therefore FOTA will create a committee to fit the Seniors needs.
FOTA envisions helping families by providing heat/rental assistance on a one time basis. We look to acquire vans through donations that will allow us to transport families,'free of charge',any where within a four hour radius of Louisville, KY.
FOTA is providing a network of supportive and re-entry services; such as making telephone calls on a person's behalf, write letters, and also assist in forming resumes. We provide job placement through our network, clothes tree with professional attire, transportation to/from interview, bus tokens for the first week; assist in correspondence, in order to bridge the gap between families, especially the children. FOTA transports family members to Northpoint Training Center located in Burgin, KY for visitation.
