Being involved in an area commission allows YOU TO SPEAK UP AND BE HEARD WHERE IT COUNTS! We are creating a venue for you to get involved in your community. Whether you live, work, or own property on the Far South Side, YOU ARE A STAKEHOLDER IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Take this excellent opportunity to get involved at the grassroots level and make a difference in the local world around you!
Currently, there are 14 area commissions with the City of Columbus. These commissions give their residents a voice and a higher level of participation within the city. The FSCAC allows the community to maintain and create a better living environment within their respective neighborhoods and allows the stakeholders to join together in common issues to support one another. With the FSCAC, we will be able todreate neighborhood plans as well as enforce and implement the plans already created. In addition, commercial market studies can be created to guide the growth and revitalization of neighborhoods and their business districts. Zoning districts will be created to ensure that new construction will be reviewed and determined to be acceptable within the vision of the area plan.
