Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association

July 2001 Newsletter

Jul 24, 2001

Summer is flying by, enjoy it by participating in National Night Out on Tuesday evening August 7th. Please join your neighbors for a picnic in Kern Park on SE 67th & SE Center at 7pm. We are working on booking some live music for this event so look for signs and flyers coming up.

Thanks to extra funds earmarked for the Foster Target Area Project, the City of Portland's Housing and Nuisance Abatement program provided contractors to clean out the alleys from SE 63rd to SE 67th, from SE Powell Blvd. to SE Holgate. An educational campaign is on the way to inform property owners of their responsibilities concerning alley upkeep. All property owners are required to maintain their alley section up to the middle of the alley. Alleys can be wonderful pedestrian walkways, as well as necessary access areas to residents.

As the new president of the Foster Powell Neighborhood Association I invite you to come make a difference in your neighborhood. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at St. Anthony's church at 3600 SE 76th Ave. in the community room. There will not be a meeting in August, as we will be partying in the park instead. If you aren't able to attend meetings, but would like to work on specific neighborhood projects, please call Kathleen Gagnon-Witter at 503-788-7041.
