There is a 150th Anniversary event ?– Ms. Murray will review. A subcommittee will be formed of Miss Peek, Mr. Witter, Ms. Peek and Ms. Murray.

Mr. Witter moved to amend the by-laws to include younger voters. We agreed by consensus to put that in the notes for the next amendments when we next have 20 voters available.

Y2K Preparedness:
Deb Moore from Kerns neighborhood, representing SEUL and the City, came to report the status of services with regard to Y2K and preparedness. Ms. Moore showed us a short video on disaster preparedness and stressed that these preparations pertain to Portland icy weather and power outages as much as Y2K.

She had the following recommendations. Have a family plan for escape and communication, and a disaster kit for three days of what is necessary for living. She said that you would need water for three days, at a gallon per person per day. Water has a shelf life of six months. Do not store water in milk jugs. Use clear plastic water bottles only. Call 823-2000 if you have any questions.

Miscellaneous Issues:
A hearing on siting proposals for the siting of social services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on December 15 in front of the Portland City Council. A hearing will be held at the County the following day.

We are still looking for a Southeast Uplift delegate.

Steve Witter is attending the land use meetings at SEUL. They are working on proposing input on the City?’s Comprehensive Plan for empty areas. Steve Witter will be putting together a notebook and will need some time in February at the meeting for a presentation.

It was moved and seconded to reimburse Ms. Peek from the neighborhood checking account for printing costs (toner and paper), and for the two years of Corporation Division annual fees she has paid while we were waiting for the neighborhood checking account to be turned over by the previous secretary.

The checking account was discussed, and it was decided to keep both the current checking and savings accounts open.

Treats were discussed. Consensus was that we want treats at meetings.

The traffic safety projects on Holgate and Raymond were discussed. The islands are going in on Holgate, and the curb extension is going in on Holgate. We still need wheelchair access on the corners.

A fence at the 82nd & Holgate cemetery is very likely going to be part of Lents Urban Renewal. Ms. Peek gave a brief report on her work out in Lents as Foster-Powell?’s Representative. Steve Witter volunteered to be Ms. Peek?’s backup at those meetings.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
