Hi Marc, I appreciate the offer, but I don't want to put you out in any way, but do appreciate the offer. I wasn't really that close to Frank in school. I just remember him as being a quiet and nice kid. Never had a problem with him. Can't say that about a lot of my classmates at the time. It was a different era and fights were fairly common at Starling Jr. High.  I doubt seriously if any of them still live in the area. All of my relatives moved away from that area in the 60's and 70's. Anyway thanks again.  Take care.  Shoafie

I think you could really bring this site alive, if only neighbor knew it was here.  I will spread the word on my street.  It would be great to get the community together to talk about issues, and actually get something accomplished.  I found out about this site, by searching for the issue of plans for Cooper Stadium.

I should have been checking more often...sorry. I really wish to say thanks for making a reply to this forum.

I am still very interested in the "Bottoms"... I fell in love with the neighborhood 30yrs ago when I renovated 305 Dakota Ave and made it my home until "87. My fondest memories are from the time I lived there.... The times at Gladden and the friends I met and enjoyed their company will be with me forever.

What needs to happen, is to get the area back in shape with an influx of working class people... my kind of people!! I am not rich and don't wish to be. All I want is for people to live together in a neighborhood that will help each other and watch their neighbor's back. When I lived there, we watched out for each other!!

I have visited recently and only got one response when knocking on the doors of old friends who still live on Dakota..... sad. I walked the area and got little response with a "hello" or a wave, but I did find some who were happy to chat... I'm  gad-fly....I love people and like to hear their stories.  There are many vacant houses now and that should not be.... this (Franklinton) is the oldest settlement in Central Ohio and should be preserved!! I am still proud to proclaim that I made my home there and some day I will return.

Again, Thanks to you Nic, for making a reply. I do agree that if the neighbors get together, Franklinton can come back to life and there is no reason why it should not. The way it should NOT come back to life is for profit!! This area is very significant and must come back as pride of the people who live there.... don't make it another German Village, Victorian Village or other area that uses the name for profit. Profit makes me very ill..... unless it is the profit of friendship and the well-being of friends and neighbors.... I value friends much more than money. I had many friends when I lived at 305 Dakota..... I was very rich indeed!!
