We are bringing awareness to the New City Communities the issues of social services in New York, this is where a large amount of monies are spent. Unfortunately there is a gap in social services that is costing many individuals their lives, it's responsible for much of the broken families and is costing thousands of dollars a day. Thousands of New Yorkers are survivors of childhood trauma and services are scarce in this area of social services. Yet 95% of substance abusers 60% of homeless population, over 40% of women that where having trouble leaving the welfare rolls, and over 75% of men and women that are incarcerated many for non-violent crimes have been sexually or physically abused or both as children. Despite this obvious truth many human service professions overlook or minimize the connection between childhood trauma / abuse and adult problematic behaviors that keeps even the city budget in a deficit.
Glory's strategy is to implement a pilot program that will address the needs of the childhood trauma survivors, which are at an epidemic proportion check the statistic for discovery. The pilot program will educate human service professionals, perform educational trauma groups for survivors, anger management, parenting and establish 12-step self supporting groups for the survivors to continue their recovery process. Operating as a nonprofit organization the monies gained will be for the purchase of buildings in need of renovation through out the city. These building will be used to provide various types of housing such as permanent low-income housing, housing for the homeless with disabilities, transitional, and H.D.F.C. housing developments. The renovation of the buildings will give many unemployed individuals the opportunity to earn a living wage. The program will also work with other existing organizations such as drug treatment, employment programs, educational and vocational to empower the participants. This pilot program will help to eliminate poverty, reduce the public assistance roll and restore families and individuals. The program will also prove to be cost effective while breaking the chain of abuse in low-income communities where services are scarce.
We would appreicate your help by making this a joint effort that would reduce various populations, (foster care, welfare, homeless, and HIV). There are many glitches in the social service system that can be adjusted to cut cost and meet the needs of the people all at once. Childhood trauma treatment would be the start for growth; healing and restoration process will come as a result of change over time.
