The Gate City PTO (Samuel L. Jones Branch) January 11, 2004 meeting was called to order at 5:30pm.The first item of business was the election of officers for the Gate City PTO (Samuel L. Jones Branch). The following persons were elected: President: Perry Thornton Jr. , Vice President: Sheryl Medford Marks, Secretary: Kimberly Byrom, Assistant Secretary: Monique Poole, Treasurer: Terri P. Copeland, Assistant Treasurer: Ayana Norris, Parliamentarian: Aimee Winn, Assistant Parliamentarian: Chakeria Harris. The next item of business was to agree to open an account for the PTO at Washington Mutual. Terri Copeland distributed copies of the letter to neighborhood businesses and alumni of Gate City. the letter will request their sponsorship of bricks for the walkway leading to the new playground. The bricks and will have the sponsors name engraved on it. Mrs. Marks also presented the playground designs. Mrs. Marks mentioned that we need a public relations committee. We will also have a fashion show featuring the children of Gate City on Feb. 16, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. The tickets will be five dollars per adult and three dollars per child over the age of 12. Children under the age of 12 will be admitted free. The fashion show is a fund-raiser for the new playground. We are also selling calendars with the picture of the children of Gate City (Samuel L. Jones Branch) on them. The cost of each calendar is five dollars. than the new Dayton for the construction of the playground are as follows: March 31st and April 1st, 2005 will be the preparation days and the build a for the construction of the playground will be Saturday April 2nd starting at 8:00 a.m. until one o`clock P. M.. We are asking each parent to plan to help on one or all of the dates for the construction of the new playground. We are also asking each parent and or guardian to support our fundraising activities we have to raise $5,000.00 for the construction of the new playground. Remember this is for our children. We need everyone to help to make this a success. It was also suggested to make a note card with saved the date on it pertaining to the playground project. This was served as a reminder to all families about the construction dates for the new playground. the treasury reported at the end of our meeting a total of $100 in dues had been collected as a Jan. 27 2005. The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
Important Dates: the CascadeYouth Organizations, Home of the Negro league announced 2005 baseball registration Adams Park Gym January 22nd through Feb. 26. Saturday 12:00pm-4:00pm. The First Annual Winter / Spring Fashion Show featuring the Gate City Kids (Samuel L. Jones Branch) will be held Feb. 18, 2005 at 6:30 PM at the Samuel L. Jones Branch.
The Hands On Atlanta KaBoom!! and Gate City Samuel L. Jones branch will hold its prep and build days for our new playground. The prep day will be March 31st and April 1st and the build day will be April 2d 2005. We will start at 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. each day.
The Gate City the PTO Samuel L. Jones branch will host its first Meet and Greet for the parents of the Gate City starting at 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. on Monday January 31st 2005. This would give the parents a chance to sign up to become members of the Gate City PT 0. Remember our success is depends upon you!!!11
