Gate City`s Samuel L.  Jones PTO January 11, 2004 Minutes
The Gate City PTO (Samuel L. Jones Branch) January 11, 2004 meeting was called to order at 5:30pm. The first item discussed was collection of dues ($12.00 per year per family)to help fund activities for you children and the school. Attending members votes: 6 in favor, 0 opposed, 0 abstained. Dues can be paid as of Jan 12, 2004. Please see Ms. Marks for the special envelope marked Gate City PTO Dues. A receipt will be given for your records. We also voted to produce a calendar with a group picture of our children on it. We know that we are half way thru the month of January, but please purchase at lease one to help raise funds for our new playground. The cost per calendar will be $5.00. We are also developing a website for our PTO. Alumni, businesses, and friends of Gate City will also be contacted for our playground fundraising efforts. Special thanks to Ms. Aimee Winn, she has arranged for her uncle, Mr. Eddie Jackson to take a group photo of our children on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 3:00pm for the calendar. Other fundraising ideas: Bricks with the sponsors name on them (like in Centennial Olympic Park). Do you have a fundraising idea and are willing to head it? Please drop it and or any other positive suggestion, comment in the PTO Suggestion Box.. The box will be checked daily. Please include your name, contact number and e-mail address if you have one. We are also seeking nominations for the following offices in our newly formed PTO: President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer. The duties of each office are as follows: President: schedule and preside of the meetings, set agendas, work closely with the school to see that the needs of our children are meet. Vice President: assist and act in absence of the president, Secretary: keep detailed minutes of each meeting, and read minutes from the previous meeting, Assistant Secretary: assist and act in absence of the Secretary. Treasurer: collect dues and any other PTO fund and provide a details account of all money transactions at each meeting. Assistant Treasurer: assist and act in absence of Treasurer. Officers will be elected at our next scheduled meeting.
Important: Ms. Marks meet with a representative from KABOOM!! (the company that is helping with the building of the new playground) on Jan. 11, 2005. The Build Day is Saturday March 26, 2005 from 8:00am-finish. The prep days are March 24th. and 25, 2005. We need volunteers for all of those days. We also need at least 10-15 build captains for the build day. There will be a sign-up sheet next to the PTO Suggestion Box. Please REMEMBER THIS IS FOR OUR CHILDREN AND IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!! The meeting was adjourned at 6:25pm We thank you in advance for your participation!!!!!
