The Gateway West Neighborhood Association meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Tasha. There were 22 neighbors in attendance.
President Tasha introduced the guest speakers for the evening. Officer Brad Hinshaw from the Indiana State Excise Police spoke on how to report if you suspect bootlegging going on in the neighborhood. Mr. Chad Miller was campaigning for himself as one of the candidates for State Representative for District 94.
Major Ciesielski spoke briefly about the good things that are taking place because of the neighborhood associatiion and that WEED and SEED has provided more police officers for the neighborhood.
Mr. Valentine showed a sample of the Merchant Card that the GWNA will be selling in the near future to raise funds and a scratch off card to sell in addition to the Merchant Card. The neighbors present decided on the picture to place on the front of the cards which was the Helping Hands.
A concerned neighbor asked what to do about neighbors with very tall grass in their yards. President Tasha said to report it to the Mayor's Action office.
President Tasha read the police report for the Gateway West area.
Mr. Mike read the treasurer's report for the month ending May 2008. Their were expenses of $103.94 leaving a current balance of $1,311.11.
Mr. Drew Wignall, Deputy Prosecutor, reported that he had been in the neighborhood this past week with a crew cleaning up graffiti. He also took down addresses of homes that were missed during the clean-up to get on the next trip out.
President Tasha announced that Gleaners Food Pantry will be helping feed the children in the neighborhood from June 9 through August 1. They will be located at the church next to School No. 109.
