Copies of sample bylaws were distributed to members for review and discussion at the next meeting.

The second meeting of the Glen Oaks Neighborhood Association was called to order by Clara Waters, interim President, around 6:07 p.m. The meeting opened with prayer by Jean Jones, Chaplain. Approximately 23 neighbors participated in the meeting.
Minutes from the prior meeting were read and approved with a correction to the website address and deletion of Catherine Bush as a block captain for Westfield Drive. Individuals serving in interim positions and present at the meeting were introduced.
We had our first meeting on September 9, 2004. It was a great success. We had a total of 20 concerned citizens attend the meeting. We were able to pick interim officers that will hold the seat from September through December. We hope that our numbers will triple over the next couple of months. This will allow for an election in December to elect officers for the upcoming year.
The Glen Oaks neighborhood association needs block captains for each road in Glen Oaks. We would really prefer for each block captain to be able to keep an eye on their surroundings. The block captain will also keep the members of their block informed on every event that takes place in Glen Oaks. They will also become familiar with our local police in order to assist them with the 'going ons' in our community. WATCH OUT!!!! CRIME WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
We already have a few block captains for some of our streets.
The block captains for Westfield Drive are Belinda Radford and Catherine Bush. For Live Oak Circle we have Joseph, Lillie Sharp, and Charles and Diane Russell. Gloria Triggs, Dimple Patrick, Earnestine Lee, and Naomi Ayers are the block captains for Griswold Road. Corliss Clark is the block captain for Red Oak Circle. The captain for Glenwood Drive is Virginia Carmichael. Curtis and Jean Jones, Sandy Jefferson and Jacqueline Thomas are the block captains for Glen Oaks Drive. We need more for all of the streets in Glen Oaks! Let's thank the block captains that have volunteered thus far!
It is time for the citizens of Fairfield to take our city back! Why sit around and complain about the things that should be done in our community, when you can take an active part. Everyone can participate; and together, we can move this city in a positive direction. Everyone's voice should be heard and will be heard. We will also make City Hall accountable and make them think before they do anything that will affect our city in a negative way.
