The Fort Collins Police Department said that one of the most effective and least expensive actions that residents can take is to keep your porch/yard lights on throughout the night to discourage and reduce incidents of crime and vandalism in the neighborhood.

Automatic timers and photoelectric switches are inexpensive alternatives to turn the lights on at night and off during the day.
