Property theft

Posted in: Golden Meadows - Fort Collins

Our Peruvian rainbow flag was stolen from our front porch sometime between 7/8/15 and 7/9/15. This is the second time our flag has been taken. We retrived the first flag near the mailboxes. This time the new flag and new flag pole are no where to be found. I have, again, filed a police report. As no other flags in the neighborhood are missing, I consider this a hate crime. If you know of the flags whereabouts please return it.

This act of criminal trespass/vandalism/property theft is an assault on every person living in Golden Meadows. It is a hate crime intended to intimidate us, to take away our free speech and property rights, because someone does not like what a rainbow represents. If we as a neighborhood tolerate these repeated acts, we are all diminished as a community, as a safe place to raise all our families.

This  rainbow flag was special. It was the flag of Tiwantinsuyu, the ancient Inca Empire, which I brought back from a trip to Peru. No doubt the people who stole it have no idea what it stands for, or how hard it will be to replace it.

Somebody saw something, heard something, knows something. If your teeanger perhaps is acting a little odd, or a flag you never saw before suddenly shows up at your house, please inquire. Open a dialogue. This is a teachable moment.

We want our flag and flag pole back. We want to be left in peace. We want to feel safe again. We need your help. Thank you.
