We have been in existence for over thirty years. Membership is open to all residents on 84th Place between Western and Van Ness Avenues. Among the active members are retirees, teachers, civil service employees, clergy, contractors, just to name a few.
Our mission is to 1)foster pride in home ownership 2) promote good relationships among residents 3) encourage surveillance programs for safety, housing code, and public health consideration 4) provide information and keep citizenry informed and 5)assist in the growth and development of our community to prevent declination of the area.
In addition to social activities such as block club party and Christmas party. We have two fundraising activities to raise funds for our scholarship program. We also participate in Neighborhood Matching Fund Program. We petitioned the city for stop signs, speed humps, as well as keeping our trees trimmed, having new sidewalks and wheelchair access ramps installed. Members attend the SW Neighborhood Development Council monthly meetings as well as workshops and conferences that relate to block club improvement.
