About Us

Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council

Who are we?

The Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council (GTLNC) was certified by the Los Angeles Board of Neighborhood Commissioners on September 10, 2002. We were the 44th council to be certified, of a total of about 120 in the city.

We elected 25 stakeholders to our GTLNC board on January 19, 2003. These officers are nominated and elected by their fellow stakeholders (defined by the city as people who "live, work, or own property in the council area") once a year.

Regular meetings of the GTLNC take place about once a month. All GTLNC activities are public. Anyone can attend council meetings and work on council projects. However, the ability to vote in the council's elections, or serve on the board, is restricted to stakeholders.

It's a great time to get involved!

If we can assist you with an issue, a project, or a problem, or if you can offer some time and engery to help your neighbors, please get in touch. Share what you know, get inspired, and help build a system that helps our city and GTLNC work better.

Please come to a meeting and see what it's all about. You can observe and/or make comments. We usually meet in the auditorium of Toluca Lake Elementary School in Toluca Woods. Children are welcome!

Activities: committees, projects and education

We have established the following committees: Administrative, Budget, Elections, Executive, Government Relations, Outreach/Volunteers, Parks/Recreation/Environmental Affairs, Planning/Land Use, Public Safety/Traffic and Public Works. The scope of committees is based on how much energy people can put into them.

The city offers many seminars and workshops about how to access services, and how the city works. We will provide information about these as we hear about them.

About our association

Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council (GTLNC)

Neighborhood Councils are advisory boards to and watchdogs for the City of Los Angeles. Anyone who lives, works or owns property in Los Angeles is AUTOMATICALLY a stakeholder in at least one neighborhood council.

Neighborhood Councils each have governing boards. These bodies consist of stakeholders who have been elected by other stakeholders, to serve as voluntary representatives of the larger community.

There are about 20,000 residents within our (GTLNC) boundaries; about half are property owners and half renters.

You already belong...now participate!

Please attend our committee meetings and board meetings and tune in to what's happening. Whether your interest is in tree planting, neighborhood safety, or for planning for the future, there's something for everyone. You can volunteer, or serve on or chair a committee without being a board member.

We need more hands, so please join us!

Contact Information

Our voice mail phone number is 818.755.7674. Please allow a little time for us to respond back to you.

We will soon have a part time office worker at our office at Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom LaBonge's office at 10116 Riverside Dr., Room 200-A.

You can also contact committee chairs individually. Please refer to the individual committee pages.
