Hampden Hills was built in the late 1970's to mid-1980's by Alpert Homes in southeast Aurora, Colorado. Restrictive covenants and an Architectural Review Committee were established when the community was developed. These covenants remain in effect today.
While Alpert still builds homes in Colorado, the HOA and Review Committee have been dormant in Hampden Hills.
The explosive growth in Colorado and Aurora have caused several new developments near Hampden Hills. Residential neighborhoods, like Ridgeview Glen, brought new neighbors near Hampden Hills in the early to mid-90's.
A new shopping center with a Safeway and other retail is in the early stages of construction at Hampden and Jefferson, while plans for a new church have developed across Biscay street.
With this new construction, and the maturing of Hampden Hills, the time may be right to revive the Hampden Hills HOA. The benefit of having an input to potential developers, maintaining property values, as well as recruiting city assistance with neighborhood projects might prove invaluable.
In addition, the sense of community can be strengthened by increasing neighborhood communication. Who knows, maybe even a block party?
