Kathy Murphy - Heritage Neighborhood Association (HNA) temporary coordinator called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Steve Hamilton, Sifton Neighborhood Association President, assisted and oversaw the election of officers. Elected officials are:
Kathy Murphy - President
Joe Pedron - Vice President
Robin Pedron - Secretary
Richard Wilhelm - Treasurer.
Attendees contributed ideas for topics for future meetings. Steve Hamilton shared past meeting topics from Sifton that included area development (Birtcher Business Center, Eastgate Plaza, Kaiser, Winco), speakers from Clark County Drug Task Force, Parks (Pete Cappell), sex offenders in your neighborhood, Red Cross on emergency preparedness, Judie Stanton (CC Commissioner) and Mark Boldt (area legislator). Topics suggested by Heritage attendees included speeding vehicles and transportation, code enforcement (abandoned vehicles, yard junk), development updates. It was agreed that the first charter of the HNA would be to increase attendance from the over 3100 tax lots within the association. Steve emphasized the importance of members getting together to make a difference and that one person can't do it. He referenced the success of the sound wall committed to by the Birtcher Business Center for the neighborhoods bordering NE Fourth Plain across from the new development. It was also agreed to combine the Heritage meetings with the Sifton meetings in the short term.
Steve Hamilton mentioned that "Welcome to the Heritage Neighborhood" neighborhood signs are available from Clark County at no cost. Input is needed to determine where to place these signs and how many to request.
Sponsors are needed to provide refreshments at meetings and future events. Sponsors are also needed to provide operating supplies such as paper, postage, cash. An approval is required to be able to print the sponsor name in the newsletter (Thank You's are permitted, advertising is not).
The next meeting will be combined with the Sifton Neighborhood Association on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Fire Station 88 (intersection of NE Fourth Plain and Ward Road).
Please plan to attend and meet your neighbors.
