The meeting was called to order by Kathy Murphy, President of the Heritage Neighborhood Association (HNA).

Kathy Silveria of WSU Master Composters provided a presentation on the values of backyard composting.
What to compost (yard and food wastes),
How to compost (exhibits are available to see at CASEE Center in Brush Prairie (NE 148th St. off Hwy 503);

Following that presentation Kathy Murphy spoke on the program “Rent-A-Scout” to do your yard work. She also discussed ways to keep your pets safe over the upcoming fireworks season. Those ways included keeping pets inside, close the curtains to block the fireworks from being seen, keep a radio or TV on to drown out the sounds, make sure your pet has an identification tag in case it runs away, put pet in a room farthest away from the noise and lights of fireworks, don’t leave your pet in the car at fireworks displays.

Summer neighborhood meeting schedule will be casual due to vacations, etc. Next meeting August 6, 2004 at the Firestation.
