Site Hits?

Edna,
It sounds like you were at the meeting when they voted. I wasn't living in Kenwood at the time and I was wondering if positive things were said about this site? Does the neighborhood association understand what a ''hit'' is? It's interesting to take a look at the activity on the site, Jan 2001 - 1759 hits, Jun 2001 - 5244 hits and counting. I would think they'd be jumping for joy that the HK site (as a whole) is so active. Each month the amount of people that visit this site increases. I wonder if home sales have decreased as a result of the discussion area??? Somehow, I tend to doubt it.
Honestly, I don't have a problem going to an e-list setup, I do have a problem with why they want us to go there.

Hi, Diane

Hi, Diane:

And welcome to the neighborhood, btw, as you are a new face (well, name anyway--no faces on the net *lol*) since I used to be a fixture on this board.

Janel P. is the webmaster and she could answer your questions waaaay better than I, but as I understand it (and I could be wrong, because I am taxing my brain harking back to the discussions in board meetings/association meetings on this, which were a while ago), the Historic Kenwood site itself will DEFINITELY still be here, as it is a fantastic resource and marketing tool. We have had inquiries about moving to our 'hood from people living as far away as Japan, due to the web site! However, we have our very own site (historic-kenwood.org) and eventually if someone clicks here on neighborhood link, it will just take them to our own site, which is still under development right now, but eventually will be really cool. I think this was decided because we have more freedom on our own site to design it how we want it, rather than conforming to the format of neighborhood link. So, that is one thing--there will definitely still be a Historic Kenwood site. However, if I am remembering right, it won't be this neighborhood link one. The message board/e-group thaaaaang is a separate animal/issue. I've already said all I know on that. Apparently, the change will take affect soon from this venue to the e-group venue. It would have been sooner except for technological challenges. And there you have the extent of what I know on it. To learn more, ask Janel, the designer of the new site. It is still under development, but it is all our own and eventually will be great stuff!
Yes, and.......

What Edna says is true. The site was not talked down, just the discussion part. Their idea was to link our page to this one, as stated. Hit Kenwood and you'd go to the new site. Hit discussion and you'd go to the list serve set-up. I like the first part as a link to click on, but not a direct shot before you go this site.
