About Us

Hoffman Heights/Jewell Heights Neighborhood Organization

THE ORGANIZATION

It was founded in 1982 by some residents with the purpose to address itself to concerns important to the welfare of the neighborhood; to promote a sense of pride in the neighborhood; to develop cooperation among neighbors.

The Organization holds meetings on every second Tuesday of every month (except June, July, August and December) at 7:00 PM at Fire Station #2 on Hoffman Boulevard. We welcome your attendance.

The Organization offers various monthly presentations that are of interest to the residents, which affect the quality of life in the neighborhood. The past topics have included presentations on redevelopment at Fitzsimons and Stapleton, safety, urban renewal and other topics by various city agencies and departments.

HISTORY OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD

The original Hoffman Heights area, which is roughly bound between E. 13th Place, Potomac, E. 6th and Peoria was started by Sam Hoffman in 1951 by building 1,705 residential units. The Jewell Heights area was developed by Saul Perlmutter in 1954 and is bound between E. Colfax, Potomac, E.13th Place and Peoria.

The Organization is an active community organization responsible in assisting the residents to improve their quality of life and assisting the City of Aurora in physical, social and economic vitality of the city.
