The Hilltop area of Columbus has a long history as a residential area of choice. Many distinguished and productive citizens of Columbus have roots on the Hilltop. Since 1996, Homes On The Hill, Community Development Corporation has worked actively to assure that the Hilltop also has a bright future of safe, stable residential communities.
Homes On The Hill provides decent, affordable housing for low- and middle-income residents on the Hilltop, and is committed to helping Hilltop residents improve their homes and neighborhoods. It works in partnership with a variety of public, private, and nonprofit organizations to realize these objectives.
The organization purchases and rehabilitates housing, which it then makes available to low?– and moderate-income families and individuals. It repairs and maintains homes for existing homeowners with the help of volunteers. Homes On The Hill also supports first-time home buyers by offering homeownership training, a course in home maintenance, and down payment assistance.
A steady stream of successes over six years has created a foundation for Homes On The Hill to expand into new facets of community development. Entering 2002, Homes On The Hill is poised to scale up dramatically the volume and scope of its activities. Working with a variety of partners, it has ambitious plans to construct 50 new homes and rehabilitate 40 existing homes in a concentrated area. It is exploring opportunities for economic development along the area?’s major commercial corridors. And it is leading a partnership of numerous neighborhood organizations in developing a shared community center on the Hilltop.
Homes On The Hill has as its goal to create a greater range of housing choices for residents of the Hilltop and to revitalize the Hilltop as a residential community of choice.
