Presentation by Guest Speakers:

Chief Bill Lucatuarto from Inter-Canyon Fire Rescue: The Chief did an excellent job of explaining the recent "bad press" events aimed at Inter-Canyon Fire Dept. He assured that all of the issues have either been resolved, are being addressed, or were not issues to begin with. Seceral Inter-Canyon Firefighters and Officers were present to help answer questions and alleviate concerns in their areas of expertise. All of the Homeowners in the ICFR district, which includes the Homestead, have been mailed a brochure with the facts and statistics.
Remember that fire danger is high and forecasted to get higher as summer approaches. Normally, we have 60" of moisture by this time of year and are at 22" currently. The cisterns in the Homestead are checked regularly by our firefighters and are up to standard. Homeowners need to know about fire mitigation and preparedness. This is the personal responsibility of every homeowner. ICFR offers lots of info on this topic along with classes on First Aid, CPR, Medical Emergencies, and various other topics all open to the public. Info is available at www.intercanyon.org An Open House is being planned at Station #3 on Hwy 285 at the end of April. This will also be an opportunity to meet some of the candidates running for seats on the ICFR Board of Directors. Election to be held in May. It is your duty and right to vote and, most importantly, know who and what you are voting for.

Norm Lewis from Homestead Water Company: Norm gave a very informative and detailed presentation about the water quality in the Homestead and what it takes to maintain it. He works very diligently to abide by the EPA prescribed regulations as various tests are conducted and results of new studies released. The "Annual Drinking Water Quality Report", which is sent to each homeowner yearly, is very informative and educational. It lists definitions of abbreviations to help us understand the measurements, along with test results including possible contaminants such as Microbiological, Radioactive, Lead and Copper, Volatile Organic, and Fluoride. It's well worth your time to read it. His next report to us will be the "Consumer Confidence Survery Report" in June, 2006.
One concerned homeowner asked about the expeditious increase in fees as of late. Norm politely explained that it was costly to shut down one well due to excessive contaminants, drill a new one and, mentioned the increased cost of further water testing. He also made note that fees have not been raised since 1984. This latest increase is a 3-year projection and he will re-evaluate at that time.
If you have any questions or concerns, Norm would be glad to hear from you. His number at the water company is: 303-674-7777. He has lots of info on water treatment and is very willing to share it.

Golden Meadows Homeowners Reps: The Golden Meadows homeowners have invited us to participate in a "Trash to Treasure" Garage Sale to be held June 24th and the Ballfield (where we had the picnic last summer) from 8a-3p. Set-up your stuff earlier and take it down later. Plan to stay with your items all day and please offer a donation of at least $5 to cover advertising. Bring your own chairs, tents, tables and food. RSVP to secure your space to: Jackie (303-697-1234) Carol (303-697-5292) or Gail (303-697-0136).

Architectural Committee: Final plans for 8453 Ault Lane were unanimously accepted by the Board. There was a questions as to when should a homeowner submit preliminary plans to the Board of Directors. The answer is that it depends on the extent of the modification/addition, but it's always a good idea.

Maintenance Committee: No Report. Position needs to be filled.

Treasurer's Report: Tom provided the Annual Report and Proposed Budget for 2006.
A motion was made and passed to increase the annual donation to ICFR to $500.

Social Committee: Theh Summer Picnic was voted to be joined with Golden Meadows this year. More info to follow once plans are finalized.
We would like to get started on a new directory for the Homestead once the position of Social Chairperson is filled.

New Business: There was some discussion about the intersection at Mariposa and Ault Lane being dangerous with an obstructed view to the left. Several suggestions were offered. One is for drivers to SLOW DOWN! We will get in touch with the Road and Bridge Dept to see if there is anything they can do to help make the intersection safer.
Please consider filling one of the vacant positions on the Board of Directors. Jerry is working on a letter that describes the duties of each position to be sent to the homeowners.

Meeting adjourned. Next meeting to be determined.
