Community Development Plant City

Grass-roots initiative to improve and develop the communities of Lincoln and Madison Park, Plant City, Florida. Projects include the restoration of the Bing-Rooming House, a National Historical Site anchoring the future Laura Street Business District.

During the month of August 2005 we celebrate the groundbreaking for restoration of the Bing Rooming House. A former boarding room that served minorities during the period of segregation in Plant City.

Revitalization of the Laura Street African American Business District. Now to be titled, ''Laura Street Historical District.''

After-School Program

Striving for Excellence Academy after-school/summer program. Offer free basic tutoring, affordable advanced academic studies, computer skills (technology center), mentoring (YLM), arts & craft, and annual youth conference.

Annual MLK Festival 2006

20th Annual Plant City Dr. MLK Jr. Cultural Arts Festival, January 9th thru 16th, 2006. The largest festival of its kind held in the state of Florida. Activities included; carnival & midway, receptions, step team competition, parade, concerts, leadership breakfast, and many more...
