Welcome
Welcome to James Monroe Elementary School.
Our principal is Mr. William Strait. We have
students in grades kindergarten through sixth
grade. Our school mascot is the Panda, and our
school motto is ''Pandas Are Never Done
Achieving.''
We are very proud of the Panda mural in our
front lobby. The school flag is red and has a
Panda painted on it. A former Monroe Student,
Nicole Horst, painted the mural and the flag.
Project Panda provides extra services to students
in the classroom, and before and after school.
The Bamboo Forest School Store is operated and
managed by the fifth and sixth grade students in
the Bamboo Forest School Store Skills Program.
They learn money handling skills and store
operating skills, as well as basic economics. This
program was selected as a runner-up in the
1995-1996 MASB ''Michigan's Best'' competition.
