Knollwood is a single-family residential neighborhood consisting of approximately 151 homes. Knollwood is a well-established, close-knit community convenient to grocery stores, banks, postal service, restaurants, day care facilities, churches, a senior center, and public transportation. Knollwood also has a community center, basketball court, baseball field, playground and a strong, well-organized civic association.
Knollwood is located in Claymont, Delaware, immediately behind the executive offices of Claymont Steel and adjacent to I-495.
The New Knollwood Civic Association was formed in 1996 to help revitalize the community of Knollwood in Claymont, Delaware. In addition to a housing initiative, the New Knollwood Civic Association maintains a community center which serves as a summer day camp, develops recreational and social services, parenting curriculums, after school and mentoring programs, tutoring assistance, senior citizens services and a host of community activities and services.
New Knollwood Civic Association, Inc. (NKCA) is a community based non-profit organization established in 1996 for and by the residents of Knollwood. NKCA continues to be representative of the community through the composition of the Board of Directors and the membership of the association. The mission of NKCA is to promote the safety, recreation, improvement and general welfare of the community of Knollwood, regardless of race, color, creed and/or sex. To that end, NKCA seeks to: create a stronger community by ensuring Knollwood residents an active roll in the community, advise residents of their rights, privileges and responsibilities, empower residents through the provision of recreational, educational and social services, sponsor programs that beautify and clean the community, promote and facilitate partnerships with government and private groups, and increase and/or sustain high levels of homeownership by utilizing various housing programs.
