The current Block Club was organized in May, 2003. Rhonda Ervin, a long-time resident herself, became President; and James King became its Vice President. There are many things that both would like to do to enhance the community, continuing to make it a safe, friendly, and stable place for families.
The LDRP Block Club has worked to clean up and maintain the Hansen Park and Playground, and once again it is being used daily by the residents. Its the site of basketball games, children swinging, and adolescents playing with thier friends and neighbors. Recently, the City of Detroit replaced the curbs, making the park area more handicapped accessible. THIS YEAR 2009. THE KABOOM PLAYGROUND COMPANY AND THE HOME DEPOT have committed to the building of a new playground in Hansen park. Through the collaboration of the City of Detroit Parks and Recreation, Creekside CDC and the LRP BlockClub we're all making this possible. Thank you partners.

LDRP Block Club serves a vibrant community on Detroit's east side. Our southern boundary is the Detroit River and the spacious green space called A B Ford Park along with the Lenox Center. There, its residents enjoy picnicking, fishing, and watching the ships, sailboats and barges pass by. LDRP Block Club's western boundary, Lenox Street, is the tree-lined home of the old Fisher Mansion. Drexel Street, Riverside Drive, and Piper Boulevard are also established neighborhoods with yards and gardens that are well-maintained by its many longtime residents, and by some newcomers, too. Along the north is Averhill Street with Hansen Park & Playground as its main feature. The resurrection, development and maintenance of Hansen Park is one of the Block Club's main efforts.
The LDRP Block Club meets monthly on the 3rd Saturday. Its meeting location is the steps of St. Martins church
We will see you there at 11:00 am.
