Message from the President:
We have been really busy at your LVA headquarters and I want you to know that your dues are hard at work to make your property more valuable and life in Dana Point more rewarding than ever before. Our Annual Meeting, held in March, produced six new board members. We are fortunate to now have eleven very capable and energetic board members: Lara Anderson, Phil Bordeaux, Roger Budris, Rod Howarth, Chuck Johannsen, Rand Kaar, Mike Metz, Paul Lachlan Peck, Sally Frey Reinholt, Bill Shepherd, and Erwin Skadron.

?· On June 1 st , we were again represented at the Spring Clean-Up that was held at three different locations. LVA volunteers staffed the La Plaza station and helped the City with this important event that we originated. From this exposure, we gained at least four new members.

?· From a grassroots letter-writing project, we have encouraged people to write to their neighbors up and down their streets. On one street alone, a member gained four additional members. If you would like to try to get your neighbors to join, we can supply you with address labels and sample letters for the resident/owners on your street. Just let us know, we can help by:
- Writing the letters for you
- Mailing them over your signature.
- Or, we can send you a winning type of letter that you can use.

?· For years, the City has supplied us with addresses for only streets west from Copper Lantern. Homeowners on those streets east of Copper Lantern to La Primavera have not been reachable to us. To correct this, two new board members (Real Estate professionals) are supplying us with new addresses. This is really great news. By increasing our membership base, we increase our VOICE in City Hall. It?’s all a matter of numbers, isn?’t it?

?· We now have a revitalization of the Neighborhood Improvement Committee with the appointment of a new Chair, who will be representing your LVA at bi-monthly meetings in City Hall with Code Enforcement Officers. This program is a vital part of our efforts to improvements our neighborhood. If you are interested in helping to continue to call attention to code violations please call us.

?·The LVA begins its 3 rd year of Pride Awards. The Pride Awards are conducted twice a year, in the Spring and Fall. This year we made a change in the award categories and added a Historic Heritage Award in collaboration with the Dana Point Historical History. A full page in the July 4 th edition of the Dana Point News featured the winners. See if you can find them in the community (hint, we have special signs in their yards).

We hope you agree that your membership dues are being put to good use and we will continue to work hard to make the Lantern Village an even better neighborhood. If you have a particular idea you think might be helpful to us, or you would like to help with one of our activities, please call or email me.
