The Lantern Village Association (LVA) is a California non-profit 501c4 Corporation and NOT a homeowner's assocation! It is a VOLUNTEER run neighborhood committee that was formed in 1991 by residents on Silver Lantern who were fed up with the drug sales and slumlords on their street. LVA members are residents, property owners, property managers and business owners who work together for the betterment of the Lantern Village--the heart of Dana Point.
We are dedicated to the continuing improvement, maintenance and upgrading of properties, public safety, reducing overcrowding, and the overall enhancement of the character and desirability of the Lantern Village. We promote neighborhood education, advocacy, long term planning and city cooperation with what the residents want for their neighborhood.
There are a number of ways that the LVA works to improve the quality of life in the Lantern Village. We use our member network to identify problems and work with the City of Dana Point to resolve them. We organize "Clean-Up Days" in which dumpsters are placed in locations within the Lantern Village for people to dispose of their junk for free. Our "Pride Awards" seek to identify and recognize property owners and residents who have significantly and creatively enhanced the Lantern Village. Recipients of these beautifcation awards are acknowledged for demonstrating "pride of ownership" and adding value to their property, the Lantern Village, and the City of Dana Point.
